Incorporated in late 2016, Gentlemen Expeditionists International (GE) was founded by three men at Johnson C. Smith University who desired to make a difference in the lives of teenage African American and Latino males in the Northwest Corridor of Charlotte.
At their first meeting at a Pizza Hut near campus, the team outlined a bold, creative approach to engage youth using research in an intercultural context as a leadership and masculine development tool.
Due to life circumstances, the group separated for almost two years as members worked to complete college and graduate education.
The team reassembled in late 2018 with a commitment to effectuate the vision and strategy.
To advance the intellectual, spiritual, and masculine development of adolescent males of color.
To inspire and train new generations of community male leaders of color at all levels of government and industry, and in every societal sphere.
